William George Richardson Hind was an English-born Canadian painter known for his meticulous documentary realism during a formative period in Canadian art. Trained in England and influenced by the Pre-Raphaelite emphasis on precise observation, he immigrated to Canada in the 1850s and accompanied his brother, the geologist Henry Youle Hind, on the Labrador expedition of 1861.
