Carl Larsson is among the most recognized figures in Swedish art, best known for the watercolors depicting his family's home at Sundborn in Dalarna. Trained at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm and active for a period in the artists' colony at Grez-sur-Loing in France, he found his mature subject after returning to Sweden and marrying the artist Karin Bergöö.
