Theodore Earl Butler — American, 1861–1936 — American Impressionism
Theodore Earl Butler was an American Impressionist closely tied to the Giverny circle that formed around Claude Monet in the late nineteenth century. Born in Columbus, Ohio, and trained in New York and Paris, Butler settled in Giverny in 1888 and became part of Monet's extended household, marrying Monet's stepdaughter Suzanne Hoschedé in 1892 and, after her death, her sister Marthe.
