Charles Warren Eaton — American, 1857–1937 — American Tonalism
Charles Warren Eaton was an American landscape painter associated with the Tonalist circle that emerged in the late nineteenth century around George Inness, whose work and friendship shaped Eaton's mature direction. Working primarily in New Jersey and Connecticut, with extended painting trips to Bruges and the Italian lakes, he developed a quiet, atmospheric style built on muted greens, deep umbers, and the soft transitions of dusk and early morning.
