Frederick Carl Frieseke was a leading figure in the second wave of American Impressionists who settled in Giverny, where he lived for most of his career beginning in 1906. Trained at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Académie Julian in Paris, he developed a distinctive approach centered on the female figure in sunlit gardens and dappled interiors.
