Vincent Stiepevich — Russian-American, 1841–1910 — Academic Realism / Orientalism
Vincent G. Stiepevich was a Russian-born painter who emigrated to the United States and became known for genre scenes, Orientalist subjects, and figural works rendered in a polished academic manner. Trained in the European academic tradition, he settled in New York and exhibited at the National Academy of Design, where he was elected an Associate.
