Richard Edward Miller was an American Impressionist closely associated with the Giverny colony of expatriate painters working in France during the first decade of the twentieth century. Trained at the St. Louis School of Fine Arts and later at the Académie Julian in Paris, he became known for figural compositions of women in sunlit interiors and gardens, often shown reading, sewing, or at the dressing table.
