Edward Cucuel was an American Impressionist painter best known for sun-dappled scenes of women at leisure in gardens, lakeshores, and rowboats. Born in San Francisco, he trained in Paris at the Académie Julian and the École des Beaux-Arts before settling for much of his career in Munich and on the Bavarian lakes, particularly the Starnbergersee.
