Domenico Fetti — Italian, c. 1589–1623 — Italian Baroque
Domenico Fetti was a Roman-born painter who spent his most productive years in Mantua, where he served as court artist to Cardinal Ferdinando Gonzaga from 1613. After leaving the Gonzaga court, he relocated to Venice, where he died young. Fetti is best known for his small-scale parable paintings—biblical scenes recast as intimate genre subjects, often featuring solitary figures in contemporary dress within everyday landscapes.
