Alexandre Hogue — American, 1898–1994 — American Regionalism
Alexandre Hogue belongs to the generation of American Regionalists who turned away from European modernism in the 1930s to depict the landscapes and crises of the rural United States. He is best known for his Erosion series, painted during the Dust Bowl years, which rendered the ravaged plains of Texas and Oklahoma with a hard, almost surgical clarity.
