Peter Hassrick — American, 1941–2019 — Western American art scholarship
Peter Hassrick was an American art historian and museum director whose career shaped the modern study of art of the American West. He served as director of the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, Wyoming, and later founded the Charles M. Russell Center for the Study of Art of the American West at the University of Oklahoma. He also directed the Petrie Institute of Western American Art at the Denver Art Museum.
