James Bolivar Manson — British, 1879–1945 — British Post-Impressionism
James Bolivar Manson was a British painter and museum administrator whose career bridged the practice of painting and the institutional life of early twentieth-century British art. He worked in a Post-Impressionist idiom, producing landscapes, flower studies, and portraits marked by light brushwork and a restrained palette indebted to Pissarro, whom he admired and later wrote about. Manson was closely associated with the Camden Town Group, becoming its secretary, and he later joined the London Group.
