William Collins was an English painter known primarily for landscapes and rustic genre scenes featuring children, fishermen, and coastal life. Born in London, he studied at the Royal Academy Schools and was elected a full Royal Academician in 1820. His work belongs to the early nineteenth-century English tradition that ran parallel to Constable, favoring observed coastal and pastoral subjects over grand historical themes.
