Edwin Ambrose Webster was an American painter and teacher whose embrace of high-keyed color and post-Impressionist structure helped introduce modernist ideas to a generation of American artists. After training at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and studying in Paris in the 1890s, he settled in Provincetown, Massachusetts, where in 1900 he founded the Summer School of Drawing and Painting.
