Levi Wells Prentice was an American painter associated with the late Hudson River School and remembered today primarily for his still lifes of fruit. Born in Harrisburg, New York, in the Adirondack region, he was largely self-taught and began his career painting Adirondack landscapes before relocating to Buffalo, Brooklyn, and Philadelphia.
