A Young Boy Holding A Dish

Francois Xavier Fabre — French, 1766–1837 — Neoclassicism

A pupil of Jacques-Louis David, Fabre won the Prix de Rome in 1787 and spent much of his career in Italy, settling in Florence for nearly four decades. He worked in the Neoclassical idiom of his teacher, producing history paintings, portraits, and landscapes for an international clientele drawn from the expatriate community and the Italian aristocracy.
