Arthur Hacker — British, 1858–1919 — British Academic Painting
Arthur Hacker was an English painter associated with the late Victorian academic tradition, working in the orbit of the Royal Academy where he was elected a full member in 1910. Trained at the RA Schools and in Paris under Léon Bonnat, he absorbed the disciplined draughtsmanship of the French ateliers and brought it to a range of subjects including biblical and mythological scenes, society portraits, and atmospheric London street views.
