Albert Joseph Moore was an English painter associated with the Aesthetic Movement, known for decorative compositions of draped female figures arranged with the formality of classical relief. The son of portraitist William Moore of York, he trained briefly at the Royal Academy and studied antique sculpture, particularly the Elgin Marbles, which informed the rhythmic poise of his figures.
