Léon Jean Bazile Perrault was a French academic painter trained under William-Adolphe Bouguereau and François-Édouard Picot at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon from the 1860s onward and built his reputation on tightly finished figure paintings, particularly idealized children, mothers, cherubs, and allegorical nudes rendered in the polished manner of his teacher.
