Pieter De Hooch — Dutch, 1629–1684 — Dutch Golden Age
Pieter de Hooch was a Dutch genre painter of the Golden Age, best known for his quiet domestic interiors and sunlit courtyards set in Delft, where he worked during the 1650s and early 1660s. Often considered alongside Vermeer, with whom he shared a Delft milieu, de Hooch developed a distinctive command of orthogonal architecture, layered doorways, and the precise fall of daylight across tiled floors.
