Tiepolo was the last great master of the Venetian decorative tradition and the most accomplished fresco painter of the eighteenth century. Working primarily in Venice, Würzburg, and Madrid, he received commissions from churches, patrician families, and royal courts across Europe. His ceilings dissolve architectural boundaries through luminous skies, foreshortened figures, and pale, silvery palettes drawn from Veronese, whom he openly emulated.
