Hercules Brabazon Brabazon — British, 1821–1906 — British Watercolour, Impressionism
Hercules Brabazon Brabazon was born Hercules Brabazon Sharpe and adopted the family name Brabazon as a condition of inheriting an Irish estate in 1847. Independently wealthy, he painted for his own pleasure for most of his life and rarely exhibited before his seventies. He travelled widely through Europe, North Africa, and India, working rapidly in watercolour and pastel to capture light, atmosphere, and architectural mass with economical washes.
