Umberto Boccioni — Italian, 1882–1916 — Italian Futurism
Boccioni was the leading visual artist of Italian Futurism and the principal author of its theoretical foundations. Trained in Rome under Giacomo Balla, he settled in Milan in 1907 and became central to the circle around Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, drafting the Technical Manifesto of Futurist Painting in 1910 and the corresponding sculpture manifesto in 1912.
